The Origin Story: The MAD Logo Design
To side-logo or not to side-logo…
BrandedSUCKs and NoRivals (respect) both put a side logo on their hats and well, we had to come up with something because at the end of the day no one knows its our hats out in the wild.
So… I pulled out my iPad and started playing around with some ideas.

My first reaction: COOKIE CUTTER. SELL OUTS. JUST LIKE THE OTHER GUYS... but not bad.
We don't want people to feel like walking billboards, but hey, we have to leave our mark somewhere in a subtle way (signing people's hats under the bill was/is an idea we have thrown around).
We ended up going with the top left design though. Its not stealing the show, but it really does make the hat interesting and reps our brand.

But we are the BAD BOYS OF EMBROIDERY TM (I hope you have picked up on the sarcasm so far) so I started sketching some more ideas and BOOM!
In 5-seconds I drew a logo that was... interesting. It’s like a car crash, it’s not pretty, but I couldn't look away.
Listen we aren't saying we are going to die on a hill for this logo, but there is something cool about taking it from the page to the stage. This design tells a story (read last 3 sentences) and that’s really what we are going for with Madcapper.
So, A Star Was Born: We threw this bad boy on the side of a hat and it actually looked great and started some conversations with people. We just needed to make it smaller the next time around. And because we own the business, I threw it on the front of the Madcapper Sport.

Back to building the brand from my first blog: This got me thinking, what does MAD mean to us actually? The Mad Hatter was just a crazy dude, not angry. Mad is also some slang to emphasis something. So, through an inspirational conversation with ChatGPT here is what I am starting to settle on:
We’re all a little MAD in our own way.
- Mad Funny
- Mad Cute (s/o Pookie)
- Mad Comfortable
- Mad Confident
- Mad Clean
